Compassionate Care for Animals
For more than a quarter-century, the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society has rescued, provided compassionate care, and found forever homes for thousands of abandoned and neglected animals. Established in 1987, CHHS is a private 501(c)(3)(Federal Tax ID: 58-1798769) not-for-profit animal welfare no-kill shelter. We receive no federal, state, or county tax dollars, and no funding from any national animal organization.
CHHS relies solely on donations, grants, bequests and special events to further our mission of saving lives and finding forever homes, and providing community outreach programs such as low-cost spay/neuter, humane education and pet therapy.
One of the most picturesque no-kill shelters in the United States, CHHS is nestled amongst ten rolling acres in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains where dogs romp and play all day long in acres of play yards, and cats explore and roam in cage-less community play rooms. Last year, visitors from more than a dozen states visited CHHS to find their new best friend and discover unconditional love. We invite you to do the same.
